Course overview
A 6-month part-time online course to teach key concepts of diseases that are especially prevalent in tropical and developing countries where resources may be limited. The course runs two times per year, starting on April and October. The course is designed for online, self-study. Although the final assessment is held after 6 months, students can access course materials and join some of the live lectures according to their preference over a 12-month period.
The course has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 50 category 1 (external) CPD credits. On completion, students will receive certificates of attendance that state ‘Certificate in Tropical Medicine [International]’ has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 50 category 1 (external) CPD credits.

Aims & objectives
An online course to teach health professionals key concepts of diseases that are especially prevalent in tropical and developing countries where resources may be limited.

Students will be able to:

  • Have a good understanding of important tropical diseases and syndromes
  • Compare and contrast the management of infectious diseases in different contexts including returning travelers
  • Evaluate the evidence for health interventions in resource-limited settings

>> Note: this course does NOT include:

  • Laboratory practical sessions (TropMed 2 module) or the practical sessions of the Zoology module.
  • Case discussions from the Clinical Tropical Medicine Regional Module
  • Certain interactive small group sessions such as Epidemiology group work

Eligibility
【Pre-requisites】
Healthcare professional such as medical doctor, nurse, physician assistant
(Target audience:Healthcare professional with a recognised medical qualification)

【English language requirements】
Good standard of written and spoken English (as per TMGH regulation)

Location/accommodation
Online self-study (although there may be some opportunities to join live lectures during April-June via Zoom)
