Regarding Our Cooperation with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Nagasaki University School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health and the most prestigious school in the field, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), have a continuing partnership in education and research with the aim of improving global health. Currently there are two professors from LSHTM specializing in clinical tropical medicine and nutrition epidemiology respectively who are based in Nagasaki. In addition, professors in the fields of epidemiology, statistics, tropical medicine, and public health from London will be invited yearly in the hopes of forming a hybrid unit between Nagasaki University and LSHTM in order to expand graduate education and research. Professor Christopher Smith

He has been working at LSHTM since 2014, funded by Medical Research Council Population Scientist Fellowship. He completed his PhD titled ‘Increasing contraception use with mobile phone-based interventions’ at LSHTM in 2017 which included a systematic review of mHealth interventions for contraception in Cambodia. He has a joint appointment at the Department of Clinical Research at LSHTM and the School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health (TMGH) at Nagasaki University since September 2017.
In addition, professors in the fields of epidemiology, statistics, tropical medicine, and public health from London will be invited yearly in the hopes of forming a hybrid unit between Nagasaki University and LSHTM in order to expand graduate education and research.
