Mr. Ezenwanne, a graduate of the TMGH Master’s program, received third place in the ‘MSPTM Student Competition – Rapid Oral Presentation’ at the 21st International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria.

Mr. Chukwuma Stephen Ezenwanne, who completed the Health Innovation (MSc) course of the Master’s program in the School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health in September 2024, received third place in the ‘MSPTM Student Competition – Rapid Oral Presentation’ at the 21st International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria (ICTMM2024) held in Malaysia from September 19 to September 23, 2024. This award evaluates originality and ideas in research, the quality of methodology, presentation skills, and responses to questions and it is based on 38 presentations selected from applicants to the competition. The title of his presentation was ‘Rosetting of Plasmodium knowlesi-infected red blood cells,’ which he energetically researched under the guidance of Professor Osamu Kaneko, Assistant Professor Miako Sakaguchi and Assistant Professor Taeko Naruse.

ICTMM2024 addressed topics such as malaria, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, drug resistance, parasitology, zoonotic diseases, travel medicine, and public health issues, with over 2,000 participants from around the world. We look forward to Mr. Ezenwanne’s future achievements.
